This profile will put a face to one of the volunteers that many donors have had the pleasure of talking to on the telephone.
Gwen Dambrofsky has been an active volunteer at the Alberta SPCA since 1989. She has the amazing gift of chatting with donors and finding out what their thoughts and concerns are about animal welfare in our province.
While we are very grateful for all of Gwen’s help on the phones, having her in the office also means we get to cuddle and coo over her dog, Finnigan, who was rescued from New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. We always look forward to the days when Gwen volunteers—Finnigan is the hit of the office.
Over these many years Gwen has volunteered her time in numerous ways to help animals. She has participated in a variety of special events and fundraising activities, including the Dog Jog, Pet Expo, Amazing Animals, casinos, bingos, raffles. She has also made school visits on behalf of the Education Department.
Presently Gwen spends her volunteer time working in our head office assisting with cash lotteries and donor relations. She is the pleasant voice on the line who calls our donors to thank them for their support and generosity.
When not working at Canadian Press or volunteering, Gwen loves to spend time with her family and friends, enjoys gardening and cooking and is a great movie buff.
