On June 2, 2025, Jessica Sutter was convicted under the Animal Protection Act 2(1) of causing an animal to be in distress.
Jessica Sutter was fined $2,500 and was handed a 10-year prohibition from owning, possessing, controlling, boarding, breeding or living in a residence with any equine animal. As part of the prohibition order, Ms. Sutter must comply with and allow Alberta SPCA Peace Officers access to such residence to review the living conditions and the conditions of any animals with the ability for the Alberta SPCA to remove any prohibited animals or an animal whom the Alberta SPCA deems to be in distress, without warrant.
This prohibition order is in effect until June 2, 2035.
